Padma Rajendran (born in Klang, Maleysia) lives and works in New York.
Padma Rajendran’s work explores cultural lives, personal monuments and past histories. Having lived in different countries as a child Rajendran has always been fascinated with cultural objects. By gathering personal symbols it authenticates the forgotten and revitalize it. This allows for an alternate unfolding of events and offers a new ontology.
Padma Rajendran works in varying techniques such as printmaking, dye painting and ceramic making, and she draws on the inspiration of functional objects like South Asian Miniatures, Southeast Asian Batik work, Indian Kantha quilts and Greek Vessels.
